Canoeing on a glassy lake in early morning fog. Dragging a loaded canoe up rushing rapids. Sleeping under a star-streaked canvas of darkness, breathing in crisp, invigorating air. Gathering water from a small gurgling stream. Sailing a freshly improvised catamaran 60 km away from any road, car, or motor boat. Feeling your heart jump as a ruffed grouse explodes from the trailside. Squinting to keep the brilliant white at bay as you emerge from your cozy quinzy doorway...
The 1st Steinbach Venturer Company is open to anyone aged 14-17. It's an opportunity for teens to develop their spirituality, responsibility, leadership and problem solving skills, physical and mental stamina, to help others, to serve their community and have fun. This is accomplished through planning and executing events, leading younger Scouts, discussing spiritual questions and issues and participating in community service projects.
The 1st Steinbach Venturer Company has five members and one advisor. Each member has "executive" duties to fulfill at each meeting. A vote is taken each September to determine who will be the President, Vice President, Quartermaster, Scribe, and Treasurer. Each year, a new vote is taken.
We do activities in every season, including the "big one" every summer. It's a great opportunity to gain outdoor experience and confidence.
